Description
This NMEA compass pickup coil is fitted underneath one of our externally gimbaled compasses converting it to a Transmitting Magnetic Compass (TMC) with direct NMEA0183 capability. The pick up senses the magnetic field and generate a NMEA0183 $HCHDG sentence. The TMC is ready to work once power is applied and only needs connecting to a NMEA0183 receiving device. This significantly simplifies and speeds up installation time for a TMC.

The compass can then be compensated as normal and since the TMC is aligned to the compass card the HDG reading will always match the compass card reading. These pickups are installed and aligned to the compass in our workshop and supplied for connection to your intended system. The TMC pickups can be attached to any of the Autonautic nInstrumental gimbaled compasses whilst attachment to other gimbaled compasses is subject to prior evaluation. The unit is aimed primarily at navigation systems suppliers for marine applications.
